2015/01/img_3732.jpgMetro World, perfect for running on cold, cloudy days like today.  No photo-shopping to make my legs thinner, or my waist smaller.  I’m not a model. I’m a work in progress.  I love the feeling that filters convey.

The world is full of mystery and new discoveries.  And the world is not perfect.  Be proud of who you are.  Don’t hide your flaws.  There is something to be said about being truthful.  Being real.

Today’s workout:

Sprint hill 10x

Circuit: Front, Side, Reverse lunges, Squats, Bridges

Circuit 2:  V-ups, Planks, back extensions

Hot Chocolate with Marshmallows


Some days with this cooler weather, you start thinking about hot chocolate with marshmallows.  My favorite is Abuelita’s Mexican hot chocolate.

Give yourself a break, and add some marshmallows or a cinnamon stick. Get into your yummy flannel pajamas, and curl up into your favorite chair. I like to get into my writing and research mode, with the help of my Mac.

Today for my burpee challenge, I did 50.  We’ve been increasing by five every day until we get to 100.
Today’s circuit!

10 minutes until time is complete… incline chest press 8-10x, barbell row 8-10x, burpees 8-10, repeat

then, pull-ups 8x ( assisted if necessary) and dips 8x for 10 min until complete

arnold presses 8-10x, bicep curls 8-10x, lateral raises 8-10x – repeat 3x

end with planks (as long as possible), leg raises 8-10x, 3x

4-up on 10-21-13 at 10.26 AM #9 (compiled)Well, I’m sittin’ here in my sweatpants writing in the kitchen because finally I actually have time to write!  Truth is, I’m home sick.. sick as a dog dang it!

Zinc, Athletic Greens, vitamins, you name it did not help me this time.  So I downed more Athletic Greens to hopefully speed up my recovery and now I’m enjoying a cup of joe.

I got up probably five times last night, from not being able to breathe.   I’m gonna spend the day concentrating on what I can do to recover.  For me, that means, gettin’ some fun and Sun.  Well, hell! This totally puts a damper on my training/health program.  I probably won’t exercise for a day or two, but the diet will continue… Protein and fat meals … one more week.

Hey how’s your posture btw?  Not standing up straight lately?  I got the perfect exercise: Stick ups!  You know when the cops say in the movies Stick’m up!  Little did they know that they were fixing the convicted’s posture!    Learned this from my coach John Romaniello!  Thanks John for the insight.  Check out this video:

It seems like a simple exercise til ya try it.  I didn’t realize what in bad shape I was til I started doing this thing.  I don’t want to be a hunched over Nanny Mcphee.

Squat Jumps

Planks 30 sec

Side planks 30 sec, each side

Pike Pushups, followed into

walk to pushup position and do regular pushups

Do circuit 5x

Forward lunges

Oh My! Jambalaya!

Ok, I know this isn’t a good sign… I’m eating jambalaya. I messed up my diet for the week. I promise that I’ll better after this weekend in Los Angeles. I cannot diet, when I’m with my boo and especially when I’m in Los Angeles. We visit every month or two and this is when I like to eat. Eating as you know, is my favorite pastime and New Orleans food fare is one of my favorite types of food. The spicy shrimp, the andouille sausage, with rice and collard greens with my favorite cornbread.

What can I say? I’m human. Now, I’m still determined to lose the 10 pounds at least and I will feel like my former self. Everyone says I look fit, but I am a perfectionist and added 10 pounds does not make me happy. That being said, starting tomorrow I should be back on track and we won’t be back in Los Angeles for another month or two.

I saw Mario Lopez while I was in Los Angeles at the Grove doing interviews for Extra. I wasn’t too excited because I’m not that huge a fan but maybe some of you people are.

The only good thing is that I’ve been working out all weekend during my trip here, continuing my circuits. Yesterday’s circuit included:
Circuit 1 : Single leg squat to bench, Barbell upright row, Pike Pushup, Hand Walkouts
Circuit 2: Pendulum step over, Single Arm Dumbbell Row, Y-press, Bent-over Lateral Raise
Circuit 3: Alternating Jump Lunges with Weights, Dumbbell Incline Press, Barbell Stiff Legged Deadlift, Dumbbell Bicep Curl

Some circuits I did twice, some once depending on the difficulty. Again, these are all supplied by Joel Marion with further detail than I’m giving. You’ll have to buy his online book. He has so many! Anyhow…
